Connecting financial capability partners in Wellington

The second meeting of the Wellington Financial Capability Network was held in June 2016. This meeting focused on the National Strategy principle of ‘galvanising and consolidating effort’.

The meeting was hosted by KiwiBank – KiwiBank are actively committed to building financial capability for all New Zealanders and this is demonstrated in their partnership with Banqer.

Minister Paul Goldsmith opened our meeting and he encouraged the network to use the forum as a vehicle for building financial capability together.

Network members spoke on upcoming initiatives, opportunities for coordination, events etc (more details included in the minutes attached).

  • Tim Swann introduced himself to the network - Tim is the Manukoloa (Pacific Manager) at the Commission for Financial Capability.
  • Keith Coppins encouraged the group to try the Federation’s Mo Money website.
  • Mark Grams, MOE, spoke on financial capability within the NZ curriculum.
  • NZFFBS has formed with Community Connections and is running financial capability programmes across NZ
  • Commerce Commission provided members with an update on their It's All Good video series
  • Money Week 2016 takes place between 5-11 September.
  • Westpac Massey Fin-Ed Centre’s Exploring cultural perceptions of money and wealth conference, 10th and 11th October 2016
  • Commission for Financial Capability’s NZ-OECD Global Symposium: Today versus Tomorrow?
